Custom Quartz Glass Windows

Fused quartz and JGS quartz glass optical windows for UV, visible, near-infrared and high-temperature applications.

Microwork supplies custom quartz glass windows and fused quartz optical components made from JGS1, JGS2 and JGS3 quartz glass. These components are used in optical systems, laboratory equipment, lamp components, sensor windows, viewport windows and high-temperature observation applications.

Quartz glass offers low thermal expansion, good thermal shock resistance, chemical stability and strong optical transmission in selected UV, visible and near-infrared wavelength ranges, depending on material grade, thickness, surface quality and coating design.

The curves above show typical uncoated transmission and AR coating performance for quartz glass optical windows.

Available coating ranges may include 250–400 nm, 400–700 nm and 650–1050 nm. Actual coating performance may vary depending on material grade, wavelength range, angle of incidence, surface quality, coating design and operating environment.

For quotation, please provide the target wavelength range, required transmission, coating requirement, surface quality, wavefront distortion, parallelism and application conditions.

Engineering Considerations

When designing a quartz glass window, engineers should consider wavelength range, transmission requirement, thickness, surface quality, wavefront distortion, parallelism, clear aperture, coating durability, thermal load, chemical exposure and mounting method.

Although quartz glass has good thermal stability and thermal shock resistance, improper mounting, sharp corners, uneven clamping force or insufficient edge protection may still create cracking or chipping risk.

For optical applications, wavefront distortion, surface quality, parallelism, clear aperture and coating performance should be specified clearly. For high-temperature or laboratory applications, thermal cycling, cleaning method and chemical exposure should also be reviewed.

Large windows, thin plates, tight flatness, high surface quality, special coatings or complex shapes can increase manufacturing difficulty, lead time and cost.
